TRAVEL: Doors, why do there have to be flaws (Part 2)

One song from #Bastille mentioned that our flaws made us who we are and without it we will be doomed. Listen to their acoustic version of “Flaws” and hear/feel it your self, it is a beautifully written song. Then, imagine what if we people does not have flaws. What if we are all born perfect? What if there is not an inch of ugliness from anyone physically and emotionally? I’ll leave it to you to ponder. Below are collection of unique doors gathered from Morocco (Chefchaouen, Fez, Essaouira) and Andalusia, Espana. Notice what makes them one of a kind. It is their flaws. Every door is beautifully flawed from everything that surrounds them. Each of it are molded and designed based on culture, nature, weather and by their maker. Like us people. Each of us has inherited flaws from our parents and ancestors. None of us are made to choose what kind of beings we are going to be. Nature, culture and the cycle of life made us who we are. Our differences and faults …

TRAVEL: Doors, why do there have to be doors (Part 1)

At the age of 21 where most normal guy officially reach physical adulthood, my body stopped from growing at 5’6 tall. By then, I knew I cannot make it as a supermodel like I dreamed of and travel around the world for free. Being just dark, handsome and disappointed, I had to think of something else to do with my life. The door to becoming a supermodel has closed (It was never open for me anyway, I realized that ten years later). Thank god I am actually smart and talented I never knew. Whew! Ten years later, I have encountered countless doors and windows of opportunities I never thought would open and close for me during my early until late twenties. From desktop publishing to design agency. I’m now a Graphic Designer (wow), but my current company entitled me as the Digital & Creative Lead… because they cannot promote me into something else (that sounds better and more expensive though). I currently work as the in-house designer in a company that requires corporate branding and …

I just woke up one day when I decided to take picture of myself wearing my everyday working clothes to work. And over the year I have collected not only tons of lookbook photos but also memories from 2012. The places where I took the photos and friends who are very patience taking multiple shots of myself posing until I am satisfied with the look. Thanks to my tripod, to Jemma, Namal, Aireen, Kabbie, and specially to my buddy Sandra Essa who took most of my gorgeous photos from the past 4 months. Photos below are mostly taken with the use of my HTC mobile phone and iPad 3 with 5 megapixels processed by Instagram. So here are my selected collections from 2012.   All images used are owned by John Robert Ramos.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Morning Angel

Innocence is Bliss. Taking photograph of a child is one of the most difficult… no, because they don’t need to act happy or sad or blissful. It comes naturally with their innocence. It is difficult… yes, when you have to force them to smile for the camera. The trick is make them play and enjoy what they are doing. This series of photos are taken with consent of her parents for her 7th birthday. I provided all the props, settings, and photography direction.             Photos taken by John Robert Ramos

I Left My Heart In San Pedro

Please play the music below while browsing this post. San Pedro, Laguna where my heart and family lives. I love this place more than Santa Mesa, Manila where I grew up and went to college. San Pedro is our new found home since 2005, my hidden paradise. I wish I could take more photos every morning when I go over the hills to chase the sunshine and sweat. I wish I can go home and watch the sunrise ’till it goes down to my feet. Just home and do nothing. Photos here are taken by my old phone camera and Olympus Digital camera years ago (4 yrs back or so). Pixels aren’t great but the framed memories are gold. PHOTOGRAPHY: Prenuptial photo shoot for a friend of mine Subert & Anna. This is my first art direction attempt for prenuptial photography. I manage to select all details, setting, location, wardrobe, props & set-ups, effects, gestures and emotions. The final product look authentic. Awesome for the first time hit. This is only possible with the help of our friends. We had fun while doing this. Watch the video:

Photography: The Dusk

PHOTOGRAPHY: Dusk The day I gave up my frustration for violin. Art direction by John Robert Ramos. No one else. Lights: Natural from the sun. Dusk- The beginning of darkness… in the evening. I took this photo before my violin said “no”. Broke my heart by a broken string.. Here I accidentally made a movie scene photography. I went home after work, I saw that light coming from my window. I knew it was waiting to be taken a photo. Just like what I quoted before, “Photograpy is a gift of light”. Rare opportunity. Some croppings but no photoshop alteration.

New building, new neighborhood, new space, new view, new chairs, new background for my shoots. I relocated at TECOM, Dubai where there is a Metro station at the foot of my building (awesome). Great view from the 25th floor overseing Dubai Internet City, Media City, Jumeira Lakes Towers, The Palm and sands storm mostly.
