MUSIC: Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I’ve never seen a rainbow here in Dubai, UAE. Not sure if the nature forbid itself to show a beautiful spectrum of light over the desert or its just not possible in this kind of climate. I guess I really miss San Pedro, Laguna my luscious green hilly home town where you can find the rainbow after the rain or in the orange afternoon. I found a new rendition of my favorite song. A song very close to my hearth, a song I’ve sung a hundred times… Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Here I am sharing the beautiful music. The instrumental rendition by The Piano Guys. Here below is the original version by Judy Garland from Wizard of Oz. I hope you’ll enjoy the music from The Piano Guys like I do and support them by buying the music online. INSIDE JOB: Cover & Layout Design for Querky

Cover and layout design I made for The VM Bible (Manual) from my previous company QHD. Querky is a magazine style manual for the visual merchandiser. We intentionally made this manual design very funky through eclectic pop. The bible writing style, pop art concept and catchy phrases are all created by myself. The Retail and Design team really loves the overall design from cover to cover. Too bad I left the company already.

FILM: I Wish (Kiseki) “What is the world?”-Koichi

FILM: I Wish (Kiseki) Japanese Film. I couldn’t explain it myself but this movie is simply heart felt, nostalgic, and it brings back some memories of my childhood. I didn’t came from Japan but the movie setting feels like home for me. Innocence is really blissful. We may though that life as a kid is easy but the world is still so big and hard for them to understand. I wish that there are always good people around them to teach and answer their questions (we adult sometimes don’t know how to answer). I just love this film. A 2011 Japanese film written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda with real life brothers Koki Maeda and Oshiro Maeda. I don’t think that this film will be shown here in middle east. You know where to find it. TRAILER: SYNOPSIS: Twelve-year-old Koichi lives with his mother and retired grandparents in Kagoshima, in the southern region of Kyushu, Japan. His younger brother Ryunosuke lives with their father in Hakata, northern Kyushu. The brothers have been separated by their …

PHOTOGRAPHY: Prenuptial

PHOTOGRAPHY: Prenuptial photo shoot for a friend of mine Subert & Anna. This is my first art direction attempt for prenuptial photography. I manage to select all details, setting, location, wardrobe, props & set-ups, effects, gestures and emotions. The final product look authentic. Awesome for the first time hit. This is only possible with the help of our friends. We had fun while doing this. Watch the video:

ART FILM: Pina

“Dance, dance, otherwise we are lost.” – Pina Bausch. Captivates your heart and soul. The first in the world 3d Dance film. It is amusingly weird but its art. Synopsis: PINA is a feature-length dance film in 3D with the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, featuring the unique and inspiring art of the great German choreographer, who died in the summer of 2009. PINA is a film for Pina Bausch by Wim Wenders. He takes the audience on a sensual, visually stunning journey of discovery into a new dimension: straight onto the stage with the legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch ensemble, he follows the dancers out of the theatre into the city and the surrounding areas of Wuppertal – the place, which for 35 years was the home and centre for Pina Bausch’s creativity. Follow and read more about the featured film through their official website: http://www.pina-film.de/en/about-the-movie.html (Disclaimer: I do not own the image and video posted in this blog.)

Yotsuba! Enjoys Everything

COMIC BOOK: Yotsuba&! Enjoys Everything: I am 26 yet I read childish manga comic book Yotsuba&!. Just like everyone else who loves the series would love to see it as a full fleged anime! I would love to have a strange daughter like her. A simple kid who can find happiness with anything she does. I wish we can still raise our children in this way even in our modern generation where they don’t need hi-tech toy gadgets to play. Just pure life… pure fun in the sunshine. Yotsuba&! (よつばと! Yotsuba to!) is an ongoing Japanese comedy manga series by Kiyohiko Azuma, the creator of Azumanga Daioh. It is published in Japan by ASCII Media Works, formerly MediaWorks, in the monthly magazine Dengeki Daioh and collected in ten tankōbon volumes as of November 2010. It depicts the everyday adventures of a young girl named Yotsuba as she learns about the world around her, guided by her father, the neighbors, and their friends. Several characters in Yotsuba&! were previously featured in a one-shot manga called “Try! Try! Try!”. The phrase Yotsuba to …
